Privacy Policy

PDF Makerfollows a privacy-first, local-only model. The following information is created when you use the App and remains in the App's private storage on your device:

• The documents you scan and the PDFs you create — stored only on your device
• Secure Vault contents, your vault PIN (stored only as a cryptographic hash), and security-question answers — on-device only
• Hand-drawn signatures and app preferences — on-device only
• Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports via Firebase — these never include your document content or personally identifiable information

Just as important is what never happens:

• We never collect, access, or store your documents, images, PDFs, or any file content
• Your files are never uploaded to any server — all AI processing happens on-device
• No account, name, email, or phone number is required or collected
• No location or microphone access is requested

The App requests only the permissions it needs to function:

• Camera: Required to scan documents. Camera frames are processed on-device and never uploaded.
• Photos & Media: Required to convert gallery photos to PDF and to save your finished PDFs.
• Internet: Used for the Web-to-PDF feature, ML Kit model downloads, Firebase services, and ads — never to transfer your documents.
• Notifications: On Android 13+, used to show the status of scanning and conversion operations.

The App integrates the following services. None of them receive your documents, files, or other content:

• Firebase Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics that help us understand which features are used and improve the app.
• Firebase Crashlytics: Anonymous crash reports so bugs can be found and fixed quickly.
• Firebase Performance Monitoring: Anonymous performance metrics (e.g. app start time).
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: Service notifications about the app.
• Google ML Kit: Powers document scanning, OCR, and text recognition — entirely on-device; your content is never sent to any server.
• Google Play In-App Review: Shows the standard Play Store rating prompt inside the app.

These services are operated by Google and governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google and its certified ad partners may automatically collect certain data from your device, including:

• Your device's Advertising ID (a resettable identifier)
• IP address and coarse (approximate) location derived from it
• Device information such as model, operating system version, and language
• Ad interaction data such as impressions and clicks

This data is collected and processed by Google under its own policies — see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data from partner apps. You can opt out of personalized advertising on your device under Settings → Google → Ads, or by resetting or deleting your Advertising ID. Your documents and files are never used for advertising.

• Your Secure Vault PIN is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash — never in plain text
• Vault files are kept in encrypted, isolated internal storage
• Security questions enable PIN recovery locally on your device
• We cannot access, decrypt, or recover your protected files — we hold no keys and no copies

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device, and any PIN or credentials you set, safe.

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Because all of your content is stored locally, you are always in control. You can delete individual items inside the App at any time, and uninstalling the App permanently removes all data it stored on your device. Anonymous analytics respect your device's advertising and diagnostics preferences.

Anonymous analytics data is processed in line with data-minimization principles and GDPR standards, and no personal data is sold to third parties (CCPA). Because the App keeps your content on-device, there is no cross-border transfer of your files.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when the updated policy is posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
